The
novel is about a sad love story of a family. It tells about Bill Holden’s small
family which comes to Shanghai for hoping the better life. He came there with
his wife, Becca and his daughter Holly.
Bill is a good husband who
really cares about his family. He works hard and there was nothing important to
him than his wife and his daughter. Becca is a good wife also for Bill, she
decided to stop her job as a journalist for looking after Holly who get asthma.
This novel is divided into
three parts. The first part, be prince,
is talked about their removal from London to China, their new life. The second
part, the permanent girlfriend, tells
about Bill’s affair relationship with Chinese Girl. The third, home calling, tells about Bill’s regret.
